Absolutely beautiful Course. Stunning view from the clubhouse. Very friendly and welcoming members. Made us feel at home. Knowledgeable Pro. Only downside to me is the size of the stones in the bunkers. They are quiet big some of them. Thank god you are allowed to move them now. Overall well worth the time. Lovely day out.

Set in the beautiful Beauchief Estate, the course was designed by the famous architect Herbert Fowler, also renowned for other such designs as Walton Heath and The Berkshire. Fowler’s design ethos of strategy and reward are apparent.

This is a lovely golf course. Really enjoyable. Nice staff in the clubhouse.

Beauchief Golf Club

What We Offer:

Beauchief Golf Club, founded in 1925, functions independently of the owners of the course, Sheffield City Council, but works closely with them and with any course manager appointed by them. This is currently Sheffield City Trust. The Club has a philosophy of giving help and assistance to all golfers and, in particular, has large sections for ladies and seniors. Beauchief became a member of the Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs (SUGC) in June 1925. A separate Beauchief Thursday Golf Club was merged with the main club at an EGM on 19th September 1925. A full 18 hole course was opened in October 1912. The course became the property of Sheffield City Council in 1925 when Abbeydale Golf Club moved to its present location.

Always enjoy playing here, great staff, friendly and knowledgeable. For a council run course, Beauchief is always in lovely condition and despite it’s short distance, offers plenty of challenge for golfers.

The clubhouse was lovely and so nice to sit and have a pint after a round of golf. Beautiful awe inspiring place for a townie like me and a big clubhouse with a shop and everything. Great course and very friendly people playing too – not like other snotty golf courses.

Excellent course, very well maintained with some lovely and interesting holes.

Birley Wood Golf Club is a small friendly golf club that was founded in 1974, Golf Club membership starts from £80 for a junior and £553 for 5 day membership and £661 for 7 day membership. nice scenery. friendly staff. open good hours. good price.

Helpful staff in the pro shop, nice course some greens and T boxes need a bit of attention.

Superb greens (hats off to the keepers) a bracing 18 holes with views and hurrah! no water challenges. Only lost 3 balls – result.
